Book Review and Giveaway~Grace Given
I recently read Grace Given by Beth Shriver, which is book two in the Touch of Grace series. This is the story of Elsie Yoder, a young Amish woman living with her family in Texas. Elsie's sister and the young man Elsie had feelings for have suddenly left the community. Along with that, Elsie and other members of her community have been harassed by local young men. Elsie deals with her fear and sadness by withdrawing. Gideon Lapp has feelings for Elsie, and tries to comfort her and get her to open up to him. They also try to do the right thing in dealing with the harassment of their people.
I was immediately drawn to Grace Given because the setting is so different from other Amish fiction. I've never read about Amish in Texas! The different location and small community were interesting to read about. Grace Given is a good mixture of romance and mystery, with an exciting storyline. This is the second book in the series, and I had not read the first book, but I had no trouble reading this one. Now I want to go back and read the first book!

It is really difficult to choose a favorite book, but my favorite author is Nicholas Sparks. I love the realist view of romance that he portrays in the books (not the movies). I love reading Amish stories because I have a great-uncle who is Amish and lives in Lancaster. I read many books though with my goal being 52 books each year.
