Suzanne Woods Fisher has written some of my favorite Amish stories, so I was excited to find out that she has a new series starting. The Letters is book one in The Inn at Eagle Hill series. It is inspired from a true story.
Rose Shrock is a widow living in Stoney Ridge with her children and mother-in-law. She and her children moved in to her mother-in-law's home after the death of Rose's husband. Now Rose has a lot to deal with-a very grumpy mother-in-law in poor health, children who left behind their home and friends, and most importantly, huge financial and legal problems. She must figure out how to support her family while paying back debts her late husband owed.
Rose decides to run a bed and breakfast from their basement. While getting it ready, she gets to know her helpful neighbor Galen King and realizes she has feelings for him. As the first guest arrives at Eagle Hill, Rose prays this will change all of their lives.
The Letters is another wonderfully written story by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I liked the mix of Amish and Mennonite, and it was fun to have characters in this book that I already knew from the author's other stories. Ms. Fisher does such a great job of creating characters that you feel connected to, and puts in plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing!
