Children's Book Review~An Ordinary Toad's Extraordinary Night

I was happy to review An Ordinary Toad's Extraordinary Night because my son loves animals, and I want to encourage him to read more.  This book was written by Joanne McGonagle and illustrated by Rachael Mahaffey.

From the back cover 'An Ordinary Toad’s Extraordinary Night is the story of a young toad named Andrew, pondering whether his life would be more interesting had he been hatched a frog. Andrew embarks on his first solo hop to ask his grandpa some questions about what it means to be an amphibian. The story is blended with factual information that compares and contrasts the similarities and differences among toads and frogs. A young reader’s curiosity will be piqued as they consider the unique attributes of the individual creatures that make up a species, perhaps sparking the light of conservation in their hearts and minds.'

My son and I read An Ordinary Toad's Extraordinary Night together-as it is 70 pages, we broke it up into three reading sessions.  Not  only is this a delightful story we both enjoyed, the full color illustrations on every page are beautiful.  This wasn't just a story to entertain-we both also learned a lot about the differences between toads and frogs!

You can purchase An Ordinary Toad's Extraordinary Night at Amazon.

Disclosure: I received this book free in exchange for my honest review.
