Product Review~Sue Hooley's 2015 Daily Planner

As part of the CWA Review Crew, I had the opportunity to try out Sue Hooley's Daily Planner.  What was really nice was the crew got two planners-the 2014 version to use now, and the 2015 version for next year.  We also had plenty of time to really use this planner-we received them at the beginning of summer, so I've been using the planner for just about four months now!

This Daily Planner is geared toward homemakers.  We homemakers are busy!!  There is always something to do, and something going on.  If I didn't write things down, I'd be lost.  I've tried many different ways to stay organized in the past, but always ended up going back to the hanging calendar on the wall.  Those little squares on the hanging calendars do NOT have enough room for a busy family to squeeze in everything, believe me!  So, I was ready for a change.

Sue Hooley's Daily Planner is 6"x9" and spiral bound, making it perfect for grabbing and sticking in your bag on the go.  It has a beautiful full-color glossy picture on the front and back covers, with more pretty floral pictures throughout the planner.  There are scriptures and quotes throughout as well.  The back cover has a pocket which is great for stashing things like appointment reminder cards.

FEATURES:

Weekly Layout
  • Two-page spread with entries for each day
  • Menu planning
  • To-do list
Monthly Calendar
  • Two-page month view
Year Calendars
  • 2015 and 2016 calendars with place for notations
Shopping List
  • Perforated shopping list
Task List and Project & Events Sections
  • Untitled pages for you to customize for your own duties and ideas
Information
  • Short-term information that is relevant to 2015

What I Thought:

First of all, I love this planner.  It is what I have been needing for a long time!  Some of my favorite features are the Year Calendars and the Weekly Layout.  The Year Calendar section has the current and next year, with boxes for each month in the year.  That way, if you make an appointment for 2016, but don't have your 2016 planner yet, you can jot it down in the appropriate month and then transfer it over to your 2016 planner at the end of the year.

The Weekly Layout (above) is awesome!  On the tasks list I jot down dinner ideas/menus, things I need to get done that week that don't have a specific day they need to get done, prayer requests and anything else I need to remember!  Then there is plenty of room for each day of the week to make notes of appointments, etc.

Meet Sue Hooley:

The Daily Planner was designed by Sue, wife of Dan for 24 years and mother to six lovely children, two girls and four boys ages 5-21. The planner was developed after several years of motherhood and homemaking. Sue understood that a homemaker's day can rarely be scheduled and structured the same as the one before – not every task can fit neatly into the time-slot allotted by other planners. Since her first publication in 2010, thousands of homemakers have benefited from the daily planner.

Purchasing Information:

You can order your own copy of Sue Hooley's 2015 Daily Planner at Homemaker's Friend.  It is very affordable!

I received a free copy of this planner to review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations. I am part of The CWA Review Crew.

Product Review~Bully Sticks

My dogs are part of the family, and I like to get them treats they enjoy.  They really like treats that are hard and take a while to chew on.  I recently received some all natural dog chews called Bully Sticks, made by Best for my Pets.

Bully Sticks are different because they are made from dried muscle.  They are 100% pure beef, free of chemicals, preservatives, and additives.  They are also gluten free, grain free, and 100% digestible.

Bully Sticks are low in fat and high in protein, making them a healthy choice for your pets.  I like giving my dogs hard treats that help clean their teeth.  My dogs Tulip and Java went crazy over Bully Sticks!  Both my dogs can be picky with treats and chews, but there was no question that they loved Bully Sticks.

You have nothing to lose by trying Bully Sticks.  Best for my Pets stands by their products and guarantees that if you or your dog are not happy, they will refund your money no questions asked.  You can purchase Bully Sticks at Amazon.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Book Review~A Love Undone by Cindy Woodsmall

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
A Love Undone
WaterBrook Press (September 9, 2014)
by
Cindy Woodsmall

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Cindy Woodsmall is a New York Times and CBA best-selling author who has written fifteen (and counting!) works of fiction and one of nonfiction. She and her dearest Old Order Amish friend, Miriam Flaud, coauthored the nonfiction, Plain Wisdom: An Invitation into an Amish Home and the Hearts of Two Women. Cindy’s been featured on ABC Nightline and the front page of the Wall Street Journal, and has worked with National Geographic on a documentary concerning Amish life. In June of 2013, the Wall Street Journal listed Cindy as one of the top three Amish fiction writers.

She’s won Fiction Book of the Year, Reviewer’s Choice Awards, Inspirational Reader’s Choice Contest, as well as one of Crossings’ Best Books of the Year. She’s been a finalist for the prestigious Christy, Rita, and Carol Awards, Christian Book of the Year, and Christian Retailers Choice Awards.

Cindy and her husband reside near the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains in their now empty nest. (Since that last line sounds sad and bare, I thought I’d add an “epilogue” of sorts. Our two oldest sons are married and live only a couple of miles from my empty nest, and below are my three adorable grandchildren! ♥)

ABOUT THE BOOK

A husband and son abandoned to forge a path alone.
A young woman who sacrificed her dreams.
How will the God of grace and hope help them find their way?

At nineteen years old, Old Order Amish Jolene Keim was on the brink of happily-ever-after when everything changed, stealing the future she expected and burdening her with an unbearable decision. For the next ten years, Jolene throws herself into family life—and then she meets Andy Fisher. The horse trainer and father to a sweet nine year-old challenges her and holds up a mirror to issues Jolene has been unwilling to face.

Andy is cautious about his deepening friendship with Jolene, but he believes she knows the truth about him – that he is a grass widower. As a man whose wife has abandoned him six years past, he is unable to divorce or remarry according to the Amish ways. Andy has wrestled with God concerning his reality, and he had found peace with the solitary future facing him…until he met Jolene.

As Andy and Jolene find themselves confronted by difficult choices, will they trust in God's guidance—or will the allure of their deepening friendship only lead to further temptation?

What I Thought: Coming soon, as I'm not done with the book yet!

Book Review~Reasons My Kid Is Crying

Several  months ago, my daughter was looking at something on her computer and said, "Mom, you have to see this!".  The next ten minutes we spent laughing uncontrollably.  The reason?  My daughter had come across a website, Reasons My Kid is Crying.  When I found out recently that a Reasons My Kid is Crying book had been published, I had to review it!

Reasons My Kid is Crying all began when father Greg Pembroke began staying home two days a week with his little ones.  He started snapping pictures of his kids mid-tantrum and posting them on his Tumblr blog, and Reasons My Kid is Crying was born.  Soon, parents from around the world were contributing their hilarious photos too.

I received the 196 page softcover book, published by Three Rivers Press (a division of Crown Publishing/Random House) and immediately dove in.  The pictures are very crisp on nice, glossy paper.  Once I started, I couldn't stop-I read (looked at) the entire book in one sitting!  Next, my 11 year old son and his friend came home and got their hands on it.  They were in hysterics for at least 30 minutes!

If you want to take a break from all things serious and have a laugh, you need to get this book!  It is available at Random House, as well as other retailers, and is also available as an e-book.  The Random House link also has an author bio and more information on the book.
