Try a New Recipe Tuesday~Easy Butter Bars

I've always liked butter cookies, so these bars sounded good.  If you like mellow, buttery treats then this is for you. I clipped this recipe from a newspaper, and according to them the source of the recipe is feastingfriends.blogpsot.com.

Easy Butter Bars
Nonstick cooking spray
1 package yellow or white cake mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 eggs
1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 to 1 teaspoon butter flavoring, optional (I did not use this)
4 cups sifted powdered sugar

*Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Coat a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray and set aside.
*In medium mixing bowl, beat cake mix, butter, and one egg with electric mixer on low speed until mixture is crumbly.  Pat into bottom of prepared pan. Set aside.
*In medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining eggs and, if desired, butter flavoring.  Beat until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat on low speed until well combined.  Spread on top of crust in pan.
*Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until filling is set and golden brown.  Cool in pan on wire rack. (The filling will fall when it's cooled) Cut into bars, and store, covered, in refrigerator.  (I refrigerated them before I cut them, this seemed to make it easier to cut).
